Our Caritas Technical Secondary School Curriculum

  • Follows Papua New Guinea National Educational Policy: Standard Based Curriculum (SBC)

  • Certificates Offered: Lower (Grade 10) & Higher (Grade 12) Secondary School Certificates

Subjects Offered:

  • Core Subjects:

    • Mathematics

    • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)

    • Language Arts (English)

    • Social Studies (History, Geography, Economics)

    • Physical Education and Health

    • Technology and Computer Science

  • Elective Courses: Various TVET subjects

Pre-Grade 11 Courses:

  • Upgrade marks and obtain basic technical knowledge

  • For students who completed Grade 10 but are not eligible for Grade 11

Technical Curriculum

  • National Certificates: Levels 1 and 2 in Tourism & Hospitality and Office Administration through the TVET program

  • Purpose: Prepare for future employment or starting small businesses

TVET Courses:

  • Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery) - NCI

  • Hospitality Management (Operations) - NCII

  • Business Administration - NCI & NCII

On-the-Job Training (OJT):

  • Business Administration: 160 hours

  • Hospitality Management: 480 hours

Special Internal Curriculum

  • Pre-11 Courses: Enhance academic performance and technical knowledge

    • Admission based on Academic, Technical, and Behavioural Assessments

Extracurricular Activities

  • Opportunities: Sports teams, clubs, community service projects

  • Purpose: Develop a well-rounded education and college/career readiness

Moral and Spiritual Support

  • Catholic Philosophy: Guided by Catholic Church teachings

    • All students encouraged to practice their faith respectfully

    • Mandatory Spiritual Recollection for all year levels
