Caritas Business College Empowers Year 1 Students with Seminar Workshop on ICT, Featuring Basic and Advanced MS Excel Skills

CBC

On October 14-15, 2024, Caritas Business College organized a two-day seminar workshop focusing on Basic and Advanced Microsoft Excel (Spreadsheet) for Year 1 students pursuing their Diploma in Office Administration and Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management. The training aimed to equip students with essential ICT skills, particularly in spreadsheet management, which is critical in various administrative and hospitality roles.

The workshop was led by Ms. Cecille Lavie-Compin, a French engineer and QA Data Expert, who graciously shared her time and expertise with the students. Ms. Lavie-Compin brought a wealth of knowledge from her years of experience in data quality and analysis, enriching the learning experience for the students. Her presence was not only informative but also inspiring, as she provided a dynamic mix of lectures and interactive, hands-on activities designed to engage and challenge the students. The workshop covered a wide range of essential Excel skills, starting with the basics—such as spreadsheet formatting, formulas, and data entry—and progressing to more advanced features like pivot tables, conditional formatting, and data analysis tools. Ms. Lavie-Compin structured the training in a way that allowed students to build their confidence step by step, ensuring that even those new to the software could follow along and gain practical skills.

What set this seminar apart was the focus on hands-on experience, a hallmark of Caritas Business College's educational philosophy. After each theoretical session, students were given opportunities to apply what they had learned through exercises and real-world simulations, which allowed them to deepen their understanding of the software and its applications in various administrative and hospitality-related tasks. The Year 1 students were captivated by Ms. Lavie-Compin's teaching style, and their enthusiasm was palpable throughout the sessions. Many expressed a sense of awe at the capabilities of Excel that they had never imagined possible, especially after completing the advanced exercises. The students left the workshop not only with a better grasp of Excel but also with newfound inspiration to pursue further technical skills development. Caritas Business College prides itself on fostering practical competence in its students, and this seminar was yet another example of how the institution partners with industry professionals to ensure students are well-prepared for the workforce. Ms. Lavie-Compin's seminar provided a significant boost in the students' confidence and skill set, empowering them to excel in their future careers.

The seminar workshop was a success, and students eagerly look forward to more opportunities like this, as Caritas Business College continues to nurture both their academic and professional growth.
